So it's not New Years Eve anymore, but I really enjoy that song so I thought I'd use that post title :)
It's been a long time since I've updated, since I've really not had that much to update about. After a couple weeks home in November I flew to Tampa and have been there for the last five weeks in Winter Quarters. We worked all day, all week, except for Sundays, and most of my days were spent in a room with the rest of the band practicing music. So suffice it to say I didn't get out very much at all. I'm really excited that we open the show in Tampa on Wednesday and then we'll be on the road again. The time just seems to fly by so much faster when we are traveling.
We didn't really have much time off for Christmas, so I spent my first Christmas away from home and stayed on the train. It was alright, it didn't really feel like Christmas, especially with 80 degree weather, but I made a lot of food and we had a nice dinner and enjoyed each other's company, so it was ok. Hopefully it will be one of the only Christmases I'll have to spend away from home.
I found out this past Wednesday that we were going to have the weekend off until Tuesday, so I surprised my parents by flying home on Friday and just showing up at the house at 3:30am. Needless to say they were very surprised haha but I got to spend New Years at home and see a lot of my friends, which has been really nice.
So last New Years I wrote a post, and as I was re-reading it just now, I feel like I wrote it yesterday. I can't believe a whole year has already gone by since I wrote it, but I guess it makes sense since SO much has happened this past year. I attended the Music Directing Intensive at Goodspeed Musicals, I was involved in a workshop of a new musical in NYC, I got to work at my old high school and help with their production of Les Mis, I went to the Mid-West for the first time and got to music direct at an Equity theatre, I had a great relationship with a great guy that taught me so much more about myself, and last but not least, I joined the circus. I can tell you that when I wrote on here at year ago I did NOT think I would be working for the circus and living on a train in a year. But here I am, working as a union musician, traveling the country, and having the experience of a lifetime.
Also I was pretty successful with my resolutions from last year. I have bene working out and eating more healthy, and I've probably lost at least one inch off of my waist, which is pretty big for me. I've also been pretty good about keeping up this blog, especially once I joined the circus. So my resolutions for next year are:
1) Keep working out (my goal size is a size 32)
2) Keep up this blog
2) Learn to speak Italian
3) Save up money to get a place in NYC
4) Learn to play the ukelele
I think that's all for right now. If I'm inspired to set any more goals for myself I'll probably write them in my blog haha. I think this list is definitely do-able, especially for a whole year, but we'll see where this year takes me! I have a feeling that 2012 is going to be a very eventful year :)
