Tea For Two
So I've been getting tea at Madcap Coffee the last couple of days, and they are delicious! They are all loose leaf teas, an they put it in a little filter into your own little teapot of water. It's a really good idea, and it's enough tea for three cups! Yesterday I had a blueberry tea, today I got cinnamon plum. Both were really good :)
Yesterday I got lunch at a place called The B.O.B. and ordered their signature sandwich, the G wrap, which was DELICIOUS! It was pulled pork with bbq sauce and a pickle slaw that had some habanero peppers in it, wrapped in naan bread. It came with sweet potato "mesh" and an apple sour cream ginger tart. All of it was soooo good!
After lunch I had some time to kill so I walked around Grand Rapids and after reading a little more Pride and Prejudice in the park:

For some reason I was really tired after the show, so I waited for the bus with the clowns Taylor and Andrew, and then went back to my room. I met a couple other people on the car last night, and we walked around and showed each other our rooms and how we had them set up, so I got to meet some more people last night. One of the girls, Angie, has two cats! They are really adorable and she said I could go over and see them whenever :)
I took a picture of the arena last night and of a little bit of the clown gag pre-show. This arena is the smallest we've played so far.
Today I'm going to the clown gag rehearsal at three to watch it and start getting together some ideas for sound effects and timing for when they present it to the Felds in Boston. So in the meantime I'm just hanging out, drinking tea, and passing the time :)
Also, I know I've posted this before, but if you haven't, you should look up the singer Sophie Madeleine. I love all of her songs :)

So Much Better!
I got moved into my new room! Yay! It's SOOOOO much bigger than the other one haha it's just a drastic change! I could actually take most of these pictures from inside the room! Here they are:
I realized as I was unpacking how little stuff I actually had! It all fit nicely in my smaller room, but my current room feels kind of empty. I did end up getting a blanket and some fun lights for the fall/Halloween season, so it feels a little more homey now.
It also took me a while to decide where to put everything/actually start unpacking. It didn't happen as bad at Cohoes, but once again I kept thinking about my old room and was kind of missing it. But now that I'm all moved in I don't miss it at all haha.
Well we got soundcheck today at 2:30 and then our first show tonight at 7pm. It took me FOREVER to find where our dressing room was haha. The arena is pretty small, so we are actually behind men's wardrobe and next to the nursery haha. We don't really spend time in there anyways so it doesn't matter. I'll take some pictures of the inside of the arena and post them later.
Oh also, I just finished the last book of the trilogy last night. It was really good and I couldn't put it down, until the very end! There was a short little epilogue that wasn't it's own chapter, just the end of the last chapter, and was only about two paragraphs. It left so many questions I have as a reader unanswered! So unsatisfying...now on to finish Pride and Prejudice.

Finishing the Hat
So I'm currently at the Grand Rapids Art Museum, and it's a really nice little museum with a lot of contemporary pieces and a little collection of paintings, mostly either American or French, on the top floor. It's very clean and open and airy with very crisp lines and a nice view of Rosa Parks (no, not the person, that's the name of the park haha).
Being one of the view people actually in the museum walking around, I realized how kind of creepy a museum can be, especially when you walk into a room that is mostly empty except for two large pieces of modern art.Something about the space, or the quiet, maybe, allows a lot of space for thinking, I think at least, and maybe that's why it feels creepy. That you are one of the only things filling the void that is the room, and you try to fill it with thoughts. I don't know, there must be a reason for all the space right?
Before the museum I had lunch with Taylor and Andrew at a place called Peppita's, which was decent. My panini was good, but they also had a buffet you could get, and the pizza looked very similar to TNT pizza in Sullivan, so I didn't go for it haha.

I don't know if it's because I don't look threatening, or I look like I know where I'm going, or I look like I'm from the area, but so far it's happened in Moline, several times in Kansas City, and just a couple hours ago on my way to the museum here. It's very odd and I really can't explain it. Maybe people are just drawn to me...

Sooooo Trendy Casual
So we made it to Grand Rapids after two days of train travel, which went by pretty fast, considering I read two books and started two others. It's a nice small little town that has a nice collection of little shops and some museums, so there will definitely be plenty to do.
It kind of reminds me of a small city in Canada, but maybe that's because half the things have the name Ottawa since that is one of the main streets through the city.
I read the book I got in Kansas City, entitled The Warrior Heir, which is part of a trilogy that was on display at Barnes and Noble. It intrigued me so I bought it instead of getting The Hunger Games, which I will read at some point too since I heard they are really good. Well I got through the first and second book of the trilogy and I'm halfway through the third. Each book got better with the last, and I find the story pretty captivating. It's not amazing; the writing is decent and it's geared towards a younger audience, but I'm still enjoying them. On the complete other end I also started reading Pride and Prejudice, which, while it's slow at first, I'm slowly getting into.
A man just ran by on the street wearing no shoes or socks...hmm...
Also this coffee shop is really trendy. It has a basic limited menu that is just coffee and tea, one size, and instead of a computer they use ipads as registers. My brother Joe would hate this place.
Also I'm currently drinking the spiciest chai latte I've ever had.
Oh! I was also totally running late this morning and literally ran after the bus to catch it so I could make it down here haha. Unfortunately to get to downtown is not really walk-able since the rail yard is right next to a highway, so I'll be relying on the bus here.
There is no show today so I get the day to explore. Well time to go, I'm meeting some of the clowns for lunch. More to come soon!

Have you heard?!
There's a rumor in St. Petersburg!
Also, tonight was our last night in Kansas City. I'm going to miss this city, I really like it a lot and it's a very pleasant place to be. I'm not going to miss these allergies, and I'm really hoping they all clear up by the time we get to Grand Rapids, Michigan.
This past weekend we had a lot of people fill the audience. It was really amazing to look out and see so many people watching, and it makes me excited for when we get to play really big cities in the year ahead. This is a picture of our crowd from Saturday afternoon:
After tonight's show I went out and got dinner at a place called Gordon Biersch:
I got one of their home-brewed beers, which was quite good, and a New York steak sandwich with their signature garlic fries. The sandwich had fried onion strings, garlic aioli, and spinach on a baguette, and looked like this:
It's kind of hard to see but I think you can get a sense of how delicious it was :) Definitely a great last meal to end my time in KC.
So Matt the keyboard player I'm replacing leaves today, which means I get his room after they clean it in a day or two (hurray!). I realized though that I never really talked about the "fun" quirks of my current room. Here they are:
-Since there is about, oh let's say, a foot between the bed and the counter next to it which stores the fridge under it, the door to the fridge does not open all the way.
-The cabinet between the door to my room and my bed contains drawers. However, when the door is shut, the cabinet door cannot open completely, therefore the drawers cannot open completely. So in order to use the drawers, you need to open the door to the room before you can open the door to the cabinet.
-The water for the sink is backwards. Meaning that the left side turns on cold water, and the right side hot water. However, they are labeled correctly, with the left side saying "hot" and the right side saying "cold". You can imagine my puzzlement the first couple of days here.
-The cushion of the bed sticks out not quite far enough to block the door, but just far enough that the door scrapes across it and catches the blanket which gets in the way of opening the door.
Gee, I'm going to miss this room.
On a side note, Vaseline is absolutely amazing! I bought it for my nose since it became so red and chapped from using so many tissues, and literally within, I'd say, hours of applying it, my nose was ten times better. By the end of the day my nose hurt no more, and the redness was almost gone. I also had a cut on my top lip since it had gotten chapped as well. Slapped on some of that Vaseline...BAM! Gone. I don't know what it is about it, but Tyra was right, the stuff is genius.
Anyway time for bed, gotta get ready for two days on a train!
P.S. I love Anastasia, and I really like Ahrens and Flaherty :)

Pink Elephants on Parade
While unfortunately I have yet to get a picture of the elephants, I do have some pictures of some of the animals, since I walk by them every day to get to backstage. Also, I just wore my uniform for the first time! Picture to come soon :)
